I have received the photographs of the work you created for the Town of Collegno. Thank you. It must be a very beautiful and impressive sculpture indeed as even the photos on their own admirably convey its ability to inspire a dialogue between sculpture and spectator. This is the essential quality of real works of art and to have the precious gift of being able to bring apparently inert materials to life is your artistic secret. I do not know whether it is because you are able to transmit your spirit into the materials or because you have the power to release the soul that sleeps deep inside nature.
Your sculpture has the sober nobility of the great classical masterpieces as well as the secret of the meiotic system in Socrates’ words. It lends itself perfectly to the Piazzale della Memoria in the Town of Collegno. Perhaps, by conversing with “her” someone will be able to find the truth that is in the past and not lose the path that leads us into the future.
That head of a woman looking at herself in the concave mirror of time is wonderful. At the beginning of this wretched third millennium, when the gods of war come back to thunder savagely, it is fitting to remember where our civilisation began four thousand five hundred years before Christ and the Great Mother Goddess of Fertility and Peace was worshipped. And it started in those very countries that today are considered to be the “Home of Evil”.
My hope is that thanks to your sculpture the Piazza della Memoria, in the town of Collegno will become the Piazzale della Memoria for the entire world.
